Department of Radiation Oncology

The Department of Radiation Oncology at Shanghai International Medical Center currently has 20 medical staff members, including chief physicians, deputy chief physicians, attending physicians, medical physicists, technicians and nurses. The department director serves as Discipline Leader of Shanghai Key Clinical Specialty, Supervisor for Master's Degree Candidates, member of the Radiation Oncology Specialty Committee of Shanghai Medical Association, member of the Radiation Oncology Specialty Committee of Shanghai Medical Doctor Association, and member of the Radiation Oncology Specialty Committee of Shanghai Anti-Cancer Association. The department director has undertaken 3 national and municipal scientific research projects and won 1 Excellence Award from Shanghai Anti-Cancer Association. The Department of Radiation Oncology is equipped with a Varian VitalBeam linear accelerator, a Tomotherapy system, a Head Gamma Knife system, a Siemens large-bore 4D CT simulator and other advanced devices. Through the integrated application of high-resolution image guidance, it provides patients with a wide range of radiotherapy modalities. In clinical practice, the radiotherapy treatment duration for many patients has been shortened to some extent, treatment efficiency has been improved, and high accuracy in tumor radiotherapy has been achieved. Meanwhile, it helps reduce damage to normal tissues and associated adverse reactions. The quality of life for most patients has been improved, and the survival of some patients has been prolonged.
