About SIMC
Shanghai International Medical Center (SIMC) is one of the healthcare reform pilot projects supported by the National Health Commission of China and the Shanghai Municipal Government, as well as a demonstration base for the development of modern healthcare services in Shanghai. The hospital provides a platform for physicians to practice at multiple medical institutions and officially began operations on May 28, 2014. SIMC is committed to integrating the specialist resources of public hospitals with high-quality medical services to serve patients from across China and around the world.
SIMC is located in Shanghai International Medical Zone, in the southern core area of Zhangjiang Hi-Tech Park. The hospital occupies approximately 104 mu (about 69,000 square meters), with a total floor area of 97,000 square meters. It is adjacent to the Shanghai International Tourism and Resorts Zone and Shanghai Disney Resort, approximately 15 kilometers from the Lujiazui Financial and Trade Zone and 17 kilometers from Shanghai Pudong International Airport. SIMC was designed and built with reference to Joint Commission International (JCI) standards and the standards for Grade III Class A hospitals in China. It is a large general hospital combining an international perspective on healthcare, modern services, and standardized medical management. The hospital has 500 beds, 118 outpatient consultation rooms, 15 operating rooms, and 10 integrated labor, delivery, recovery and postpartum rooms, and is equipped with major medical equipment including CT, MRI, DSA, and linear accelerators.
