Introduction

The Department of Hearing and Speech specializes in diagnosis and intervention of pediatric hearing loss, tinnitus, adult hearing aid fitting, and vestibular rehabilitation._ The Department of Hearing and Speech is led by Dr. Huang Zhiwu's team. Dr. Huang Zhiwu served as the Deputy Director of the Department of Otorhinolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery and the Director of the Hearing Center at the Ninth People's Hospital Affiliated to Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine. He also served as the Executive Director of the Department of Auditory and Speech Sciences at School of Medical Technology, Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine. Dr. Huang has held numerous leadership positions in the field of audiology and hearing healthcare. He is the Honorary Chair of the Audiology Group of the Otorhinolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery Branch of the Chinese Medical Association, Chairman of the Auditory and Vestibular Medicine Professional Committee of the Shanghai Medical Association, Chairman of the Expert Committee on Hearing and Balance Disorders and Rehabilitation of the Chinese Association of Integrative Medicine, Chairman of the Hearing Aid Industry Branch of the China Electronic Audio Industry Association, and Chairman of the Hearing Health Medical Services Expert Committee of China Hearing Medicine Development Foundation. He is a member of the Expert Group on Newborn Hearing Screening of the National Health Commision of China. Dr. Huang serves as Deputy Editor-in-Chief of three journals: "Journal of Audiology and Speech Diseases","China Journal of Hearing and Language Rehabilitation Science", and "Ear and Hearing (Chinese version)“, He also serves as an editorial board member of leading journals such as"China Journal of Otorhinolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery","Clinical Otorhinolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery", and "Chinese Journal of Otorhinolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery". Dr. Huang was a co-author of several national clinical guidelines and technical standards, including the Ministry of Health's "Technical Specifications for Screening for Neonatal Diseases (2010 Edition)","Guidelines for Diagnosis and Intervention of Hearing Loss in Infants (2018)","Expert Consensus on Hearing Diagnosis and Intervention in the Elderly (2019)" and "Guidelines for Diagnosis and Treatment of Otitis Media with Effusion in Children".“” He also served as a co-editor-in-chief of Newborn Hearing Screening and other professional publications.
